I'm an industrial and decay photographer from Switzerland. My work revolves around the slow battle between human structures and nature’s decay processes. My pictures show internal spaces, external structures, crumbling walls, industrial details and abstract compositions. They are memento mori of forgotten places, demonstrating that the absence of human life changes a location fundamentally. All of my photographs are available light shots, with occasional experimentation in HDR, and are published under a Creative Commons (attribution share alike) license

Current Residence: Switzerland
Favourite photographer: Polidori, Potter
Interests

Sibling of Kali

Journal Entry: Wed Jan 25, 2012, 2:37 PM
One of my first industrial exploration series was one called Sisters of Kali, from a potassium mine just an hour or so north of where I live. Now, almost 8 years later, I'm returning to a similar site not very far from the original one. Most of the old potassium mines in Alsace, France, were an important part of the industrial culture. Now they're almost all gone, torn down, with one re-used as a museum, another one as a underground waste storage. I miss them, the magnificent sisters.

The series is about 100 pics long, taken on a couple of really cold winter days. I will post them 10 or so pics at a time. Maybe I'll come around to process the film material from this site as well... we'll see. Stay tuned, and enjoy.

Thank you, what a thoughtful feedback! No, I don't mind you having used this picture for your school project, and thanks for the attribution. I'm curious, what was it about?

Well, we had to chose and to present about 12 pictures from various artists: 6 had to represent a character, 6 were supposed to transmit an atmosphere.
Then, the work was to recreate them with many different technics, in order to point out some selected aspects.
Due to a lack of time I did only two for each reference, I wish I could have done more... There was very interesting !

Thank you for the kind feedback! Sometimes I think the photos are working more on me than the other way around... and you have a great collection of urban wall-art. Funny the things you find on urban tours, aren't they?

thank you very much! I'm glad that you liked my work and proud they had such an effect on you. If you're interested in doing similar photography, you don't need to travel far - look around in your area to see if there are any abandoned buildings you can document. But be careful, save, and don't go alone! There's a world full of beautiful motives out there if you keep your eyes open!
